Match Report TCC beat RCC by 47 runs
TCC’s professional approach and teamwork proved too much for RCC and were comprehensively beaten by 47 runs. We would like to thank to Uzair and Cashif from KMCC for umpiring in this match besides Prashant for pitching in with the 12th man duties and Rajesh who was there throughout the game inspite of being rested.
TCC won the toss and decided to bat first. RCC is a well-respected outfit in MACC, so we knew anything in excess of 200 on the board would be deemed competitive. We didn’t get the best of starts with Anand closing the face of the bat too soon on the flick and Parth took a smart running catch off Samay. The constant chirping from the in-field helped Aravind and Muki flay the RCC attack even better. Balls kept flying past the boundary at will ‘til Saumil took a good catch down the leg side off Faraz to dismiss Aravind who was starting to look ominous. Shibu slashed hard outside the off-stump and the edge flew to Saumil who held it one-handed diving towards first slip. That left us reeling at 61/3. RCC was pumped up and the chatter picked up as Vijay walked in to the crease. A straight drive for four and a flick to the backward square-leg fence off Faraz gave him the confidence. Muki and Vijay looked to continue their partnership from where they left off against DCC. Parth was introduced into the attack and Muki was adjudged leg-before for a destructive 41. The lower middle order looked out of sorts and RCC started to pull things back. Uchil failed to capitalize on a dropped chance and was caught by Keyur off Andy. Vijay followed soon after trying to give Andy the charge and Satbir took the skier. Srinivas hit a couple of lusty blows and we folded eventually for 165.
Knowing fully well that 165 was a low score by our standards, the TCC skipper urged his troops to be resilient. The mantra was to keep a tight leash on extras and to support the bowlers with some good catching and fielding. Manish and Shekhar opened for RCC. Manish looked to be in good touch driving well and carting Aravind for a huge six into Mr.Barbie’s backyard, however, Aravind came back right away and dismissed Shekhar leg-before. Rakesh took a low smart catch at short extra-cover off Vijay to get rid of Manish. Pressure was the name of the game. With Samay looking shaky at the crease, our chirping started. Shibu was introduced as the first change and he responded right away by dismissing Samay. Nataraj ran towards short third-man and held on to the uppish cut brilliantly and RCC started to wilt. Rakesh dismissed Andy leg-before for a duck, the batsman had a word or two with the umpire before walking back to the hut. Faraz’s uppish drive was gleefully accepted by Uchil at cover off Shibu and RCC had lost their top order. Miraj seemed to play the lone hand with some support from Satbir and Parth. Satbir timed a rank long hop from Uchil to perfection, but found Anand B. in the way at cow corner. Aravind’s catch to account for Saumil was a revelation and proved why he’s such an asset. With just 6 runs an over needed, the target seemed close, but we were in no mood to let go. Nutty got us 3 quick wickets - bowled Miraj with a beauty and got Parth / Keyur P. to hole out to Srini at long-off. Our catching was exemplary and the bowlers responded beautifully by taking wickets at regular intervals making it a total team effort in the end.
Go TCC!!! MoM - Muki (41 runs) and Nataraj (3 wickets and a brilliant catch) - Vijay Umpire Report Umpiring was consistent through out the game. |
