    match report - v NCSU May 20, 2007

TCC brush aside a resurgent NCSU.

TCC came out victorious in a closely fought encounter against NCSU. Thanks to KMCC for umpiring the game.

Rajesh, playing the first game of the season having laid low by injuries won the toss and decided that we would bat first. Even though Aravind was adjudged leg-before quite early, Samir and Anand carried on before Samir sliced one down point's throat. A couple of quick wickets gave us the blues, but Vijay and Anand steadied the ship to ensure that the damage was minimal. Anand continued the good work into this match and notched up his maiden fifty laced with superb drives in the V and some glorious flicks behind the wicket. Vijay pitched in with 36 while trying to shepherd the tail. Hari’s lusty blows proved to be a vital contribution toward the end since it helped us edge toward 200. Srikanth, Krishi and Nikhil bowled well for NCSU picking up couple of wickets apiece.

NCSU began the chase on the wrong foot with their opener Raj holing out for a duck. Our bowlers ran thru their batting lineup and in no time we had them reeling at 80/7, but Binoy found an able ally in Krishi. The latter having been in good form of late decided to frustrate us by playing positively and scoring runs at a healthy rate. Finally, Krishi was cleaned up by Vijay and Binoy tried his best to take NCSU past the winning line, but to no avail. He was run-out for a well-made 42. Samir and Vijay topped the wickets tally for us. TCC, time to cut down on extras!

Go TCC!

MoM - Anand and Vijay.
