TCC played host to ROCC on Saturday June 15th at Shiloh Park. The weather
was warm but the high of 84F seemed pleasant after the previous few days
almost 100F and high humidity. The proceedings got underway around 11:30
and TCC after winning the toss decided to bat. Excellent batting by Vijay(71) and Syed(70) supported by modest contributions
from the rest of the batsmen saw TCC post a very good score of 254. ROCC
were hampered by some wayward bowling early on. Saurin came on an bowled
a good spell and getting the ball to swing. ROCC fielding was a bit patchy
and they ended up giving quite a few over-throws. ROCC started sedately and seemed to be content to just play out the overs
rather than going all out to chase the TCC score. The only exception was
the ROCC captain Pinkesh who showed a fair bit of urgency. Harish and Aman
played some good shots square of the wicket before Aman was sent packing
by a brilliant pickup and direct hit by Rajbal Balan. ROCC continued to
loose wickets at regular intervals and were finally all out for 143 in the
28th over to give TCC a victory by 111 runs. Syed Nissar was voted man of the match for his excellent knock (70 runs)
and 3 dismissals while wicket keeping. Thanks to neutral umpire Ram of CCC for doing an excellent job.
